From coffee waste to agricultural resource and the ECOFFEE circular model
Friday, 11 June 2026 | European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Brussels As part of EU Green Week 2026, the Finnova Foundation, partner of the ECOFFEE project, organised this event at the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) under Task 3.4 of the project. The session explored how circular economy and reverse logistics solutions can transform spent coffee grounds and used coffee capsules into valuable resources for agriculture, animal nutrition and natural biocidal products, contributing to a more sustainable and competitive Europe. Event highlights: • Circular economy solutions for coffee waste • Sustainable innovation in the agri-food sector • Green transition and resource efficiency • Collaboration between public and private stakeholders About ECOFFEE ECOFFEE is a European pilot project funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe through the CIRCULOOS programme. The project aims to give a second life to coffee waste generated by the HORECA and vending sectors by transforming it into high-value products for agriculture and animal feed.
