The project presented its circular approach to coffee waste valorisation at the EU Agri-Food Days 2025 in Brussels
Brussels, 17 December 2025. The European project ECOFFEE took part in the 3rd edition of the EU Agri-Food Days – “Securing Europe’s Food and Agriculture”, held from 15 to 17 December in Brussels, a strategic European forum addressing the key challenges, policies and opportunities shaping the future of the agri-food sector.
Representing the project, Aleix Castells, Communication Officer at Finnova Foundation in Belgium, attended the event on Tuesday, 16 December, where he presented ECOFFEE’s objectives and progress, while actively engaging in networking activities and exploring synergies with policymakers, research organisations, EU-funded projects and other agri-food stakeholders.
The EU Agri-Food Days bring together policymakers, farmers, civil society, academia and research initiatives to exchange views on current policy trends, sectoral challenges and innovation opportunities within Europe’s food systems. The programme also features an exhibition area showcasing research projects, key agricultural data portals and EU funding opportunities.
ECOFFEE’s participation in this high-level event contributed to strengthening the project’s European visibility and positioning within discussions on circular economy, bioeconomy and sustainable agriculture, while fostering knowledge exchange and new strategic connections.
About ECOFFEE
ECOFFEE is part of the CIRCULOOS ecosystem, following its selection under Open Call 2, and is funded by the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101092295). The project has a total budget of €256,451.25 and a duration of 12 months.
The consortium is composed of AZTI (Coordinator), Euskovazza, FumiHogar and Finnova Foundation. ECOFFEE aims to demonstrate how coffee by-products can be transformed into high-value resources for agriculture, contributing to more circular, sustainable and innovative food systems in Europe.
